About the District
The formal name of our government is the East Central Vermont Telecommunications District. The District is a "special-purpose" municipality, Vermont's first Communications Union District (CUD), formed in June 2015 under Title 30, Chapter 82 of state law.
The mission of the District is to build and operate a fiber-to-the-premises (FTTP) network, and, as an internet service provider (ISP), bring world class broadband (defined as 1 Gbps symmetrical, that is, a speedtest result of 1000/1000 Mbps) connectivity to every home, business and civic institution on the grid in our 31 member towns.
